Got a Tricky Sales Question? Ask Your Hero!

Stop spinning your wheels and get some perspective with this technique...

Let me ask you a question that might strike you as a bit strange: who’s your hero? You know, that person you really admire, aspire to be, or are just super impressed by in business or sales?

How amazing would it be if every time you had a problem with your business or your sales, you could glance to one side and find them sitting there, ready to dispense advice?


Well you can…in a way

OK, so maybe your hero isn’t going to drop by whenever you come up against a problem. But I say you should ask them anyway, and here’s why. When you’re struggling with something, it’s very easy to get stuck in your own perspective. When you ask your hero for advice, you naturally step outside of yourself and the situation, which gives you another perspective. And that can make all the difference!

It also takes the focus off of you. It’s often so much easier to come up with good advice someone else that you might otherwise discount if you where coming up with it for yourself. And even better, you can leapfrog the “Yes, buts” and “What ifs” that tend to come up when you’re thinking of solutions for yourself — because they’re your hero, they’re not constrained by the same things that you think are holding you back.


Here’s how you do it:

Start off by thinking of your hero. They can be living or dead, or even fictional! The only thing that matters is that they’re someone you really admire. Once you’ve got them in your head, simply ask them what they would do.

For example, maybe you’re really struggling to find time to do your sales activity. So you would imagine your hero, then ask them, “What would you do? How would you deal with this? What do you think I should do?”

You can ask as many questions as you like, and you don’t even have to stick to just one hero. You can get a whole committee of heroes helping you out, if you like! And remember, they’re always there waiting to help you out with some awesome advice — you just have to ask.

Why not try it right now? Think of something you’re struggling with in your business, and mentally ask your business hero. I bet you’ll be surprised at just how well it works… 🙂
